SO FAR BEHIND/NEW BUSINESS!

Hello my lovelies! I hope that you are all doing well? How was your Summer? It seems like ages since I last wrote, which is absolutely accurate, haha. I have been so busy the last few months, and I kept thinking I would catch up when I had the time, but of course, the more time that passed, the more I have to catch up with. So. I am going to make a concerted effort to catch up with myself over the next few weeks, and I apologise in advance for the bombardment of photos in your news feeds. Hopefully you won't mind.

Since I last wrote, I have started a new business, moved house, moved all my things in storage from England to Ireland, unpacked my life, had dozens of visitors, taken several trips, gotten a new tattoo, done my first art show in three years, worked for a director in California, volunteered for the local Film Festival, and quit drinking! That's a lot. And far too much to squeeze into one post, so I'm going to start where I left off, and tell you all about my new business today. Then I will do my best to catch up with my travels and continue sharing all my beautiful photos of Ireland. (I know that's what you're really here for. ;-) )

Some of you already know about this, but I got interested in doing Voiceover work a few years ago. I had done a consultation with a voice coach, which was very encouraging, but I couldn't pursue it at the time. It was in the midst of the pandemic, and I was still busy packing and fixing up my old house in Virginia, and I simply didn't have any spare time to devote to it. However, once I moved to Ireland in November last year, I had lots of time on my hands, and I decided to try it. I started taking some free online classes, which I found very interesting, and then decided to commit to proper coaching lessons from certified professionals. The company I studied with is based in America, so their evening classes started at 01:00 for me, which made for some very late nights, but it was worth it. Everything was so interesting, and I have never enjoyed learning something as much as this. I worked with a whole team of talented people, including a professional vocal coach, as well as a coach who taught me the technical side of things; how to set up your home studio, edit your work, etc. I met so many interesting people over the following months, and took more and more classes to discover the different Voiceover niches and see where I would fit best.

After months of training, and passing all required tests with top marks, (Yay! I'm a total nerd, and was so happy about this!) I finally felt comfortable enough to soft-launch my official business at the end of March. Since then I have been so busy with moving house, having visitors, traveling, etc, that I have not had much time to devote to marketing myself, but now that summer is over, things will slow down a bit and I'm looking forward to seeing where things go.

VO Artists do more than you realise! Think of all the radio and TV commercials you've heard, audiobooks, medical narration, corporate training videos, phone directories, as well as the more obvious cartoons and video games. So. If you, or someone you know, might need a Voiceover talent for a project, get in touch!
