St. Patrick's Weekend 2024, Burtonport and Arranmore.

Hello again my lovelies, I hope you're all having a great week so far? I've been enjoying going through these photos from our trip to Arranmore back in March. Yesterday I shared lots of photos from the one glorious-weather day that we had. As you can see from this post, the next couple of days of weather wasn't so good, but that didn't stop us from going out and doing more exploring!
The Saturday that we were there, we had another wonderful breakfast at Hughie Mickey Dan's, and then caught the Ferry back to Burtonport on the mainland for a few hours. We took a stroll around the area, and then went to the Lobster Pot for lunch. You know I have a weakness for good seafood, so it was a must-visit while we were in the area, and it did not disappoint!  The wind and rain picked up quite a bit for a while that afternoon, but we were cosy and warm inside enjoying good food and a couple of drinks. We ventured back out a bit later and walked some of the nearby Railway Walk, before having to get back to catch our return ferry.

Ready to face the weather!

The next day was both Gareth's birthday and St. Patrick's Day, so there was lots to celebrate! I had brought all his gifts and cards with me, so he got to open them in the morning, before we went down for another delicious breakfast. We went for another drive around the island that day to enjoy the views again, before heading back to the Leabgarrow area. We got to Phil Bans Pub and found a corner of the bar to sit at, before the crowds came in to celebrate St. Patrick as well as watch the football. There was live music there, but unfortunately we couldn't hear any of it over the noise of the game. We did meet some very nice locals though, and Gareth had several drinks bought for him once they knew it was his birthday!
We took a break and went back to Hughie Mickey Dan's for a lovely dinner, and took a nap to fortify ourselves for the evening, haha. Later we went back to Early's Bar and found another corner of the bar to sit at and enjoy the celebrations. There was more live music there, which we could hear better this time, and more wonderfully friendly locals. Gareth had even more drinks bought for him, and the whole pub even sang him Happy Birthday! I think he enjoyed his first birthday and St. Patrick's Day in Ireland. I will have to think of something even more fun to do next year.
